In the vibrant heart of Fort Lauderdale, Aviah stands amid palm-lined streets and ocean breezes—a multifamily community in one of Florida’s most design-driven markets. With new developments rising nearby, maintaining strong curb appeal and design relevance is essential for competitive positioning. A long-standing Color Works client, the ownership team approached us to help keep Aviah at the top of the market through a refined exterior refresh that respected the community’s existing character. The challenge? Preexisting murals and decorative tile around the pool, along with a large mural in the parking garage, all featured strong visual identities and color stories. Replacing them wasn’t an option—yet a successful transformation required making them feel purposefully integrated into the new design.

Our task was to craft a color palette that unified these diverse elements, reinforced the property’s premium coastal brand, and looked as though all components—old and new—were conceived together. The design also needed to deliver practical benefits: sun resistance, long-term durability, and a refreshed perception among current residents.

Color Works developed a comprehensive exterior color and art coordination plan that balanced performance, cohesion, and visual storytelling.

• Sun-Resistant Foundation: A crisp, predominantly white palette was chosen to reflect light and heat, providing both a cooling effect and protection from Florida’s intense sun.
• Coastal Accents: Pops of blue and teal were introduced in shaded architectural areas to echo the nearby ocean and sky, infusing vibrancy without compromising durability.
• Architectural Anchors: Key structural details such as corbels and metal sun shades were accented in black to provide grounding contrast and highlight the building’s architectural rhythm.
• Murals & Tile Integration: Rather than competing with existing murals and pool tile, the new palette was intentionally designed to harmonize with them. By aligning undertones and transitions, we ensured the repaint felt cohesive—like every surface, from the pool deck to the parking garage mural, had been curated as part of one complete vision.
• Custom Art Touches: Subtle art placements and color coordination extended this narrative across common spaces, reinforcing the community’s identity as a coastal retreat with a modern edge.
